Dragages wins four New Civil Engineer Tunnelling Awards

The tunnelling expertise and the commitment for excellence and innovation of Dragages Hong Kong have earned us prizes of 4 categories from the New Civil Engineer (NCE) Tunnelling Awards. The internationally respected awards honour the global tunnelling industry’s achievements and corporate success in a total of 17 categories.
TUNNELLING PROJECT OF THE YEAR (OVER USD500M)
Dragages Hong Kong Limited, Bouygues Travaux Publics, Civil Engineering and Development Department, the Government of the HKSAR,
Liantang Heung Yuen Wai Highway – Lung Shan Tunnel (Hong Kong)
This award is given to projects over the value of USD500M that exhibit high quality of design with innovative, industry-advancing techniques and construction methods that delivered high productivity and safety performance.
The construction of the Lung Shan Tunnel was carried out under complex soft ground layer and required Hong Kong’s largest dual-mode Earth Pressure Balance Tunnel Boring Machine. This project is also a successful exemplar of concurrent Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) and drill and blast operations.

TM-CLKL – Caterpillar-shaped cofferdam for cut & cover tunnel
The TM-CLKL project has adopted a number of technical firsts. The “Caterpillar shaped cofferdam for cut & cover tunnel” is one of the revolutionary construction schemes. Containing 15 cells, the caterpillar-shaped cofferdam is a creative solution to allow efficient, cost-effective and safe tunnel excavation under complex ground conditions at the South Landfall.
YOUNG TUNNELLER OF THE YEAR –
Ms. Rosie AMAMI
Rosie joined Dragages as a trainee when she was studying undergraduate degree. Upon graduation, Rosie has joined the TM-CLKL project again as a site engineer. She was named the “Young Tunneller of the Year” for her high calibre and contribution in the TBM team.
