We are delighted to announce that Dragages Hong Kong has successfully secured the Design and Build contract for Kwu Tung Station on the East Rail Line (Contract No.: 1601) from MTR Corporation Limited.

The groundbreaking ceremony, which took place on September 29th, was a momentous occasion attended by esteemed guests. It was an honor to have Mr. NGAI Hon Wah JP, Acting Director of Highways of Highways Department, Mr. Carl DEVLIN, Capital Works Director of MTR Corporation Limited, Mr. Barry SUM, General Manager – New Territories (Projects) of MTR Corporation Limited, Mr. LAM Yu Chau, Government Engineer/Railway Development of Highways Department, and Mr. Patrick IU, Managing Director of Dragages Hong Kong Limited in attendance. This ceremony marked the beginning of this significant project, signifying our unwavering commitment to excellence.

The project involves the construction of Kwu Tung Station on the East Rail Line (KTU(EAL)), a new intermediate station situated between Lok Ma Chau Station (LMC) and Sheung Shui Station (SHS) on the East Rail Line. The complexity of the project requires meticulous procedures based on the design of the corresponding East Rail Line section.

Situated strategically in the heart of the future Kwu Tung North New Development Area (KTN NDA), KTU(EAL) will serve as a vital transportation hub, providing efficient and convenient railway services for the present and future residents of KTN NDA. Notably, KTU(EAL) will be the first new station in Hong Kong built on top of an operating railway tunnel, requiring highly intricate construction procedures. At Dragages Hong Kong, we are fully committed to optimizing work progress while ensuring uninterrupted railway services.

Mr. Patrick IU, Managing Director of Dragages Hong Kong, expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “We are honored to be entrusted with the Kwu Tung Station project on the East Rail Line. This project marks a significant milestone in our commitment to delivering complex, innovative and high-quality infrastructure. We are devoted to the successful completion of this project, on time, which will be the 100th station along the current railway network. This will greatly enhance transportation connectivity and bring substantial benefits to the community.”

At Dragages Hong Kong, we are dedicated to meticulous works planning, embracing innovative approaches, and harnessing new technologies to ensure seamless project progress. The target completion date for this project is set for 2027.
