Trunk Road T2 and Cha Kwo Ling Tunnel
Bouygues Travaux Publics will construct the Trunk Road T2 and Cha Kwo Ling Tunnel at the Former South Apron of the Kai Tak Development. The main scope includes the construction of a 3.4km dual two-lane trunk road, ventilation buildings, electrical and mechanical services, and other associated works.
The construction will adopt Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) excavation, cut-and-cover, drill-and-break, drill-and-blast methods. This project will feature the application of various innovative technologies, including accessible TBM cutter head and slurry confinement cross passage TBMs with precast pipe jacking systems.
The Trunk Road T2 and Cha Kwo Ling Tunnel, together with Central Kowloon Route, will form the crucial parts of Route 6. This strategic road network will provide an east-west express link between West Kowloon and Tseung Kwan O, bringing a relief to the heavily congested road network in eastern and western Kowloon as well as Tseung Kwan O areas.
